The card itself might need to be reformatted.... usually each camera formats the card for it's own use when inserted.
If it still freaks out without the card in the slot, then the firmware on the camera is probably fucked up.
There should be a master reset button somewhere, but depending on the make of camera, it might be some kind of bs method like shorting two pins with a paperclip while powering the camera from a nuclear reactor. [img]tongue.gif[/img]

Just hit it with a bigger hammer. If that doesn't work, buy an even bigger hammer, and hit it with that.

actually, my minolta was doing that and said something very simular. I had to send it back in for major repairs and waited a long time to get it back.
